The NWNNA general meetings are the fourth Thursday of every month at the Flamingo . Anyone who lives in or is interested in the Northwest/Time Check area is welcome to attend. The time is 6:30 PM. We are proud of and thankful for, our relationship with the city staff who attend our meetings, as well as Lt. McGarvey of the Police Dept. Our world is smaller and safer because of them. Come and share the activities--good or bad--of your neighborhood. Let's talk.
NW Resource Center Information
The Center is open for walk in services, from 1pm to 5pm on Tuesday and Thursday and from 12pm to 4pm on Saturday(Federal Holidays observed). The Center can be open additional hours with prior arrangements, for social groups, meetings and other functions. The Center is located at 1412 Ellis Blvd NW. There is parking at the rear of the building, through the St James Church parking lot off of 8th St.
The NWNNA Resource Center is now housing an Iowa Workforce Development Virtual Access Point. The public can use the three computers at the Center to access Iowa Workforce Development's website.
You can apply for unemployment, check on status of claims, do job searches, have live chats with IWD help support, create resumes and more.

- The Resource Center has three computer stations, with internet access, for use by the general public.
- There is a variety of community events and program information that is available at the center.

Children's Reading Room
Parents bring your child in to get a FREE book. This service is provided for preschoolers to 7th graders. The location is at the NW Resource Center, 1412 Ellis Blvd NW, from 10:00pm to 2:00pm on Monday - Friday, please call staff person before coming at 366-1176. This program is sponsored by the Northwest Neighbors Neighborhood Association, Quota International in conjunction with the Cops 'n Kids Reading Program and private donations.
If you have questions about issues or crime in the area that you would like to have answered at the monthly Association meeting, please contact Lt. McGarvey three or four days before the meeting.
